Serie A giants AC Milan are reportedly monitoring the contract situation of Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey. The Wales international is currently the Gunners’ longest-serving player having joined them from Cardiff City nearly a decade ago but his long-term future with the club remains under question with his contract due to expire at the end of the 2017/18 season.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, the Rossoneri are said to be weighing up a move for the former Cardiff City graduate – fresh after their success in luring chief executive Ivan Gazidis from the north London club.
It is added that the San Siro giants have already made a contact with the Welshman’s entourage on a number of occasions and their interest is supposedly ‘concrete’ with the winter transfer window approaching.
Ramsey presently has just 10 months remaining on his present deal with the Gunners and it has previously been suggested that he has already turned the first offer on the table to extend his contract.
Nonetheless, the negotiations are still said to be in progress but the Welshman could find himself in a position to discuss a pre-contract agreement in January, should the Gunners fail to commit him to an extension by then.
Meanwhile, Calciomercato suggests that the Rossoneri could be prepared to match Ramsey’s current wages of £110,000-a-week but it may not come as a surprise, if his availability encourages a bidding battle among the elite clubs.
Ramsey has made a rather slow start to the new season with no assists or no goals contributed in the club’s Premier League campaign but his workrate and determination has still pleased manager Unai Emery, who has started him in four of the club’s five league games.
