Arsenal have reportedly emerged as the fresh contenders to pursue Radja Nainggolan from AS Roma at the end of the campaign. The Belgium international has constantly been associated with a Premier League move and the Gunners appeared to have joined the pursuit of his signature.
According to The Sun, the north London outfit are deemed front-runners to appoint Luis Enrique as their next head coach and his arrival may coincide with their approach for Nainggolan, whom the Spaniard is a huge admirer of.
The Gunners have had the policy of developing or recruiting younger players from abroad but according to The Sun, they could be prepared to dispense on their age restrictions during the summer as they seek to build a title-winning squad.
League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea have also been associated with the former Cagliari man but the Gunners supposedly have the advantage with Nainggolan previously suggesting that he would not to join a ‘winning team’ where he may rest on his laurels.
Regardless of this, the enforcer won’t come on the cheap during the summer and the FA Cup holders have to part with a sum of around £45m in order to tempt the Giallorossi into a sale. Nainggolan signed a new contract extension only last summer and his current contract does not expire until the summer of 2021.
