Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has suggested that the Gunners may seek to re-sign Alexis Sanchez from Manchester United at the turn of the year with Mesut Ozil potentially being the player moving the other way in an exchange deal.
Ozil has been sidelined for the past four matches for the Gunners with a back problem and this has recently heightened speculation regarding his future with suggestions that manager Unai Emery has concerns over the German’s workrate on the playing field.
Amidst this, a number of high-profile clubs have been associated with the former Real Madrid star and Parlour, speaking on Alan Brazil’s Breakfast Show on TalkSPORT believes the Gunners may considering re-signing Sanchez in exchange for the German.
While a section of the Arsenal fans would fancy the return of Sanchez, the Gunners board may not be keen on pursuing the Chilean once more, given he was particularly disturbing with his tantrums in the dressing room towards the final stages of his Arsenal career.
Moreover, the Chilean has shown signs of decline with the Red Devils where he has genuinely struggled to lay down a starting spot while his current £350,000-a-week basic salary does not appear favourable, given the Gunners were reluctant to match that sum in the first place during his contract standoff.
As such, the north London giants could be better served with Ozil pursuing a fresh challenge in a new league, although that appears far from happening at the moment with the midfielder trying to work his way into the first-team mix once more after overcoming a nagging back problem.
Gunners boss Unai Emery has recently confirmed that Ozil will be including in the matchday 18 against Qarabag in a dead-rubber Europa League clash but it remains to be seen whether the German is able to feature from the off at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night.
