Premier League giants Arsenal are reportedly in the running to pursue the signature of Malcom on a temporary basis from Barcelona during the January transfer window.
The Brazilian footballer joined the Blaugrana from Bordeaux after a controversial £45m transfer during the summer but he has since found chances hard to come by with just 25 minutes of competitive action across all competitions.
Due to this, his representative has recently admitted that the attacker is unhappy with his situation and The Express now reports that the Gunners could lodge an attempt to sign the Brazilian on a short-term loan for the season.
Malcom had initially captured the attention of Premier League clubs during the 2018 winter transfer window and he added fuel to the speculation after dropping an Instagram hint where he was snapped taking English lessons.
However, the move could not materialise with Bordeaux being reluctant to discuss a mid-season sale after reaching a gentleman’s agreement with then-boss Gus Poyet to stall the attacker’s departure until the summer.
Now at Camp Nou, Malcom has been far from breaking into the starting lineup amid the stiff competition from the likes of Lionel Messi, Philippe Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele and Luis Suarez and a temporary stint could prove essential in developing his game.
At present, Arsenal don’t seem in a desperate need for attacking reinforcements with Danny Welbeck, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi providing the back-up when required but manager Unai Emery may still fancy an additional attacker to enhance the top-four hunt.
The Gunners have exceeded early expectations as they are lingering just below the top-four positions with a game in hand but there is still room for improvement with the defence still looking vulnerable every now and then.
