German giants Bayern Munich have reportedly joined the race to pursue the signature of midfielder Aaron Ramsey on a free transfer from Arsenal at the end of the season.
The Welshman presently has eight months remaining on his current deal with the north Londoners and talks over a probable extension are understood to have reached a complete standstill.
Owing to this, there has been speculated interest from the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United in recent weeks but according to The Express, Bayern may seek to leapfrog their rivals with a mid-season agreement.
Unlike Premier League clubs, foreign sides are allowed to discuss a pre-contract with Ramsey at the turn of the year and the Welshman could be tempted by the prospect of plying his trade in a new league.
Ramsey has been an influential performer for the Gunners over the past decade but he has shown glimpses of his best form over the past five years where he has the scored the winning goal in two FA Cup finals.
As such, he has become a fan favourite among the vast section of the fans but it seems that the board are still reluctant to reward him with an extension as they seek to reduce the wage bill around the club.
With a potential move to Munich, Ramsey could get the chance to regularly compete for the Bundesliga crown which Bayern have won on seven straight occasions while progress into the latter stages of the Champions League remains another tempting prospect.
However, with the vast midfield talent at Bayern’s disposal, Ramsey may not be assured of a regular starting role and that could prove a stumbling block in terms of the negotiations which may happen this winter.
Ramsey has been a regular substitute in the Premier League of late and he recently came off the bench during the 1-1 draw against Liverpool on Saturday. James Milner and Alexandre Lacazette were the respective scorers for Liverpool and Arsenal on the day.
