Reigning English champions Chelsea are reported to have reached a roadblock in the pursuit of AS Roma striker Edin Dzeko. The west London giants have already agreed on a €30m plus package for the striker’s transfer from AS Roma but they have yet to finalise personal terms with the Bosnia international.
According to Premium Sport, the Blues are only willing to offer an 18-month contract to the Bosnian owing to their strict contract policy which restricts them from offering more than one-year deals to players above the age of 30.
However, this is something which Dzeko is not said to favour and he is reportedly prepared to take a €2m wage cut on the proposed €8m annual package in order to extend the overall length of the contract by another 12 months.
As such, talks are currently at a standstill with regards to the striker but this is unlikely to hamper Emerson’s move to Stamford Bridge from the Giallorossi. Initially, the Blues had planned a combined deal involving Dzeko and Emerson but the former’s stance has urged the club to discuss the deals separately.
Meanwhile, Premium Sport suggests that Dzeko has the desire to ply his trade in Major League Soccer at the end of the 2019/2020 season and he is supposedly keen on remaining at one club for the next couple of seasons before pursuing his dream move.
