Serie A outfit AC Milan have reached an agreement to sign Chelsea outcast Tiemoue Bakayoko on a season-long loan with the option to buy for around £36m in the future, Sky Sports News reports.
Bakayoko joined the Blues from AS Monaco last summer with plenty of promise and many had touted the Frenchman to serve as a direct replacement for Nemanja Matic, who had made his way to Manchester United.
However, the Frenchman never really managed to adapt to the pace of the English game and he was soon the subject of scrutiny from the Blues’ faithful, who were unimpressed with his tendency to lose possession of the ball.
With the new campaign, Bakayoko has been deemed surplus to requirements with new boss Maurizio Sarri preferring to go with N’Golo Kante, Ross Barkley and summer signing Jorginho in midfield and Bakayoko now appears set to make the switch to San Siro.
Milan had their financial issues earlier in the summer after UEFA posed a Europa League ban on them after failing to meeting the Financial Fair Play requirements for the 2017/18 campaign.
But after an appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the Rossoneri were once more readmitted into the Europa League group stage and this may have played some part in luring Bakayoko alongside the promise of regular gametime.
Aside from Bakayoko, teammate Danny Drinkwater has also been associated with a probable exit from Stamford Bridge but his departure appears highly unlikely unless a foreign club comes forward for his signature.
