World Cup holders Germany entertain Brazil in an international in Berlin on Tuesday night. The hosts played out an exciting 1-1 draw against Spain in their recent encounter and they will be aiming for another strong performance against Brazil to keep up the good vibes ahead of the summer World Cup.
On the other hand, Brazil celebrated a comfortable 3-0 win over 2018 World Cup hosts Russia on Friday night and they should be eyeing some sort of revenge over Germany. Their previous meeting versus Joachim Loew’s side finished in an embarrassing 7-1 defeat in the 2014 World Cup semi-final
Players to watch for:
Leroy Sane – Germany: The Manchester City ace only came on for a cameo role against La Roja and he could not have much of an influence in the friendly. However, the winger should start from the off on Tuesday night, given Mesut Ozil and Thomas Muller have been allowed to return to their respective clubs. The 22-year-old has been hugely impressive for City in the left-wing position this season and Dani Alves may have a huge task to nullify the German’s link-up play which remains one of his key strengths.
Roberto Firmino – Brazil: Just like Sane, Firmino was only a substitute during the 3-0 thumping of Russia. Brazilian head coach Tite has obviously preferred Gabriel Jesus upfront owing to his exploits during the World Cup qualifiers but Firmino could be offered a start versus Germany. Firmino has had a fond relationship with compatriot Philippe Coutinho whenever they have played for club and country in the past and their almost telepathic movements on the pitch would be something to watch for the German backline.
