The head coaches of Arsenal and Chelsea have provided injury updates on their respective squads ahead of the second leg of the League Cup semi-final on Wednesday night. The Blues fail to make the most of their home advantage during a dull 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge last week and the tie remains wide open ahead of the midweek London derby at the Emirates Stadium.
Speaking in his press conference, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger did not confirm the availability of any of his injured or ill players. However, the French tactician confirmed that Ramsey (illness) and Nacho Monreal (hamstring) would have late fitness tests to determine their involvement in the derby. Aside from this, Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck are expected to remain sidelined for the short-term with hamstring and hip injuries respectively whilst Santi Cazorla remains the only lengthy absentee as he continues to recover from an Achilles injury which has previously threatened to end his professional career.
In comparison, Blues manager Antonio Conte has a little list in terms of injuries with only Alvaro Morata and Cesc Fabregas due to miss the game. Fabregas has not featured for the Blues since their goalless stalemate against Leicester City and his compatriot Morata has joined him in the physio room with a back problem which has hampered him on multiple occasions this season. On the positive note, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could return to the starting lineup on Wednesday after missing the previous two games with a minor ankle knock.
