Injury update: Manchester United duo in line for return versus Swansea City

Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho has confirmed that the club could bank on the services of Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo for the upcoming Premier League game against Swansea City at Old Trafford.

In a report covered on the club’s official website, Mourinho revealed that the central defensive duo have recovered from their respective injuries and they could feature in Saturday’s league outing versus the Swans.

Rojo has been absent since United’s 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town on February 3 and during this period, he has been struggling with a knee problem. Despite this, he was involved for Argentina during the international break where they suffered a humbling 6-1 friendly defeat at the hands of Spain.

On the other hand, Jones has not featured for United since the disappointing 1-0 loss to Newcastle United on February 11. Like Rojo, Jones has been hampered by a hamstring issue which has kept him out of action for the best part of six weeks.

Regardless of the positives, United are expected to be without Daley Blind and Sergio Romero for the upcoming fixture. Blind has returned to training following an ankle issue but the weekend game is likely to come early for the former Ajax man.

Romero, on the contrary, has been ruled out for a ‘few weeks’ after sustaining a knee injury which was caused after a collision with Spanish striker Diego Costa. Hopefully, he can return to the mix ahead of the FA Cup semi-final versus Tottenham Hotspur.
