According to Calciomercato, the Brazilian has captured the attention of the Nerazzurri after his impressive performances for Shakhtar in the Champions League, where he has been influential in the victories over Napoli and AS Roma.
Back in 2013, Bernard was regarded as one of the best prospects in Brazil after Neymar but his progress has since stunted with his inability to put in consistent performances in Ukraine. However, this is something he has worked upon during the ongoing campaign and he is currently enjoying his best-ever scoring season with nine goals across all competitions (whoscored).
As per Calciomercato, Inter had made an initial enquiry over the player’s services during the winter transfer window but they could not extend the negotiations further with Luciano Spalletti more concerned about the club’s lean run, which has involved just two victories in 11 appearances.
Despite this, Spalletti is likely to go on another spending spree in the summer and Bernard is supposedly the prime target to bolster the left wing in a 4-2-3-1 formation which has been the way to go for the former Italian champions.
