Manchester United winger Jesse Lingard is reportedly set to receive a bumper contract at Old Trafford once he returns from the current World Cup in Russia.
The 25-year-old was one of the stand-out performers for United during the 2017/18 campaign where he contributed 13 goals across all competitions and his form has in turn rewarded him with a regular role with the England national side.
Lingard is presently with the Three Lions at the World Cup finals where he has already bagged a goal and an assist to his name and United now appear keen on rewarding him with another contract despite only committing him for the long-term in April 2017.
According to The Sun, the Mancunian giants are said to consider Lingard as a player who can become a global star for them in the future and as such, they are prepared to double his present wages of £75,000-a-week.
Nevertheless, any discussions are only expected following the World Cup with Lingard and his national teammates looking to create history of their own this summer.
Gareth Southgate’s side have had their slice of luck en route to the World Cup semi-final and they now have a realistic chance of ending the country’s 52-year wait for the global crown.
England most-recently secured a 2-0 triumph over Sweden in the last-eight stage of the tournament and they are now scheduled to face Croatia whom they should fancy beating.
The Croatians have looked a different outfit in the knockouts unlike in the group stages where they flourished upfront and Southgate’s men have the opportunity to reach just their second World Cup final in their history.
