Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho has reportedly identified Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey as a probable candidate to bolster the midfield department during the summer.
The Red Devils are expected to pursue at least one midfielder in the off-season with Michael Carrick due to retire whilst Marouane Fellaini appears likely to leave on a Bosman transfer.
According to The Star, Mourinho is eager to add more dynamism within his midfield ahead of next season and Ramsey has been earmarked as the ideal choice to provide that.
The Welshman’s current deal with the Gunners is due to expire in the summer of 2019 and he has recently suggested that the club’s hierarchy are yet to approach him over a probable extension.
As such, his future is likely to remain uncertain heading into the summer and the Gunners may be forced to cash in on his signature, should they fail to negotiate a fresh contract by then.
Ramsey has had plenty of injuries over the course of his career and the most unfortunate of the lot involved a nasty double leg-break against Stoke City in 2010, from which he has recovered with flying colours.
The 27-year-old has since helped the Gunners to success in the FA Cup on three separate occasions and out of those, he managed to score the match-winners in the 2014 and 2017 finals – the former which ended Arsenal’s nine-year wait for silverware.
