Manchester United are reportedly considering a new long-term contract for Luke Shaw amid their indecision over whether they should pursue a new left-back in the current transfer window.
The Englishman endured yet another difficult campaign under Jose Mourinho where he was overlooked largely for the Premier League duties amid concerns over his attitude on the playing field.
Despite this, Shaw is understood to have no desire to part ways and according to M.E.N, United could reward him with a contract extension beyond the summer of 2019.
United were widely expected to secure a new left-back during the transfer window and Juventus’ Alex Sandro had been highlighted as the prime target prior to the FA Cup final versus Chelsea last month.
However, there has been no progress towards the Brazilian since then with the Bianconeri having little desire to offload their defender and this could urge Mourinho to stick with his options at hand.
Based on Mourinho’s comments last term, Young is widely expected to start as the first-choice left-back next season but Shaw has the opportunity to prove his credentials with a strong pre-season where the former could be absent because of his World Cup duties with England.
