Italy international Matteo Darmian has been fancied to make way from Manchester United when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year. The Italy international had been touted for a potential departure from Old Trafford during the summer but ex-boss Jose Mourinho is said to have blocked the move as the club were short of players on the right side of the defence.
However, that issue has been overcome as the season has progressed with Diogo Dalot, Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia available for selection and The Express reports that the Italian could be permitted to part ways with the Red Devils during the forthcoming winter transfer window.
Darmian had expressed the desire to pursue a return to the Serie A during the summer with Juventus being among the prime candidates. The Bianconeri are since understood to have quelled their interest in the former Torino man but Darmian could nonetheless return to his homeland with several other Serie A clubs keeping tabs on his proceedings.
The versatile defender started the curtain-raising Premier League game for United versus Leicester City at the start of the season but he has since been sparingly used with just three more appearances – the last of which came during the 3-1 defeat at Liverpool which paved the way for the dismissal of manager Mourinho.
