French heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly join the race to acquire the signature of out-of-favour defender Eric Bailly from Manchester United during the forthcoming transfer window.
The 24-year-old has struggled for gametime during the first half of the current campaign and so far, he has managed just three Premier League starts with the latest coming against Newcastle United in October where he was benched after just 19 minutes.
Amidst this, he has already been linked with potential moves to Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur but according to The Mail, the north London duo could face stiff competition from abroad with Paris Saint-Germain joining the pursuit.
Paris Saint-Germain presently have three senior central defenders in Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe in their ranks but manager Thomas Tuchel is nonetheless keen on another recruit with the former’s future still under consideration.
Silva has been a tremendous servant for Les Parisiens during their dominant period in the French league but he has regularly been associated with a potential switch to AC Milan with his c0ntract expiring in 19 months’ time.
Based on this, Bailly could emerge as a probable option with his strong interception capabilities, though United don’t seem keen on parting ways with the Ivorian defender in the near future.
The former Villareal man may have not featured for the Red Devils over the past 45 days but The Mail suggests that Jose Mourinho still fancies the Ivorian to redeem himself and would rather offload other players in the same position.
At present, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones are currently among the recruits on the sidelines from first-team duty but they have yet to attract any concrete interest from suitors ahead of the New Year.
Rojo has recently recovered from multiple short-term knee injuries but he has yet to appear for United this term. Likewise, Phil Jones has suffered regular muscular niggles and his previous match came in the League Cup defeat to Derby County back in September.
