French giants Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly looking into a winter approach to sign midfielder Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal. The Wales international has just six months remaining on his existing deal with the north London giants and he would be free to discuss terms with foreign clubs when the transfer window reopens next week.
Amidst this, he has been associated with some of Europe’s elite clubs but according to The Mirror, Les Parisiens may seek to prise him away from the Emirates Stadium in a cut-price £9m move at the turn of the year.
It is added that Bayern Munich and Juventus also hold an interest in the former Cardiff City graduate, although they are only willing to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with the Welshman during the upcoming transfer window.
Ramsey had been on course to pen a contract extension during the early phase of the current campaign but much to the midfielder’s surprise, the club’s hierarchy rescinded the offer on the table.
The Welshman has since endured a mixed run of form with the Gunners where he has been in-and-out of the starting lineup but he has nonetheless been deemed an important player by manager Unai Emery for the present campaign.
At present, Ramsey has found himself playing a regular role off the bench but the club could still turn down the prospect of sanctioning his sale, given the injury concerns which have troubled the squad of late.
Both Danny Welbeck and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are currently on the sidelines for an extended period and this may urge Emery to stick with the Welshman, who has largely featured in an advanced attacking role during the ongoing campaign.
Elsewhere, Paris Saint-Germain appear more likely to cash in on the services of Adrien Rabiot, who has snubbed an extension beyond June 2019 and it remains to be seen whether the Gunners propose a potential swap with the Frenchman being a long-term target of theirs.
