Chelsea make the trip to the King Power Stadium for the FA Cup quarter-final against Leicester City this weekend. The Blues suffered elimination from the Champions League in midweek at the hands of Barcelona and the FA Cup now remains their sole hope of securing some form of silverware this season.
Willy Caballero has been the preferred goalkeeper for the FA Cup duties this campaign and manager Antonio Conte may probably stick with the Argentine this weekend with Thibaut Courtois making a couple of avoidable mistakes in the recent trip to the Camp Nou.
In central defence, Conte may not seek to tweak on the settled combination of players and this should witness Cesar Azpilicueta take up the leadership role with Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen playing beside him.
At right-wing back, Victor Moses has been the preferred pick over the course of the season and he should retain his position regardless of his average crossing attributes of late. Likewise, Marcos Alonso should start in the opposite direction and he should go into the game with renewed confidence after earning his maiden call-up to the Spain national side.
In the midfield, N’Golo Kante has been a constant presence through the campaign and he has one among the players, who has shown up regardless of the result on the day. Alongside the Frenchman, we are backing Danny Drinkwater to start, given his familiarity with the opposition’s tactics after previously spending five years at the King Power Stadium.
Moving ahead, Willian has been the Blues’ standout attacker over the past month and his recent performances against the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona are certain to warrant him a starting role.
The Brazil international should slot into the right side of the attack with Eden Hazard on the left whilst Olivier Giroud could lead the line despite his average Champions League showing at Barcelona.
Both Giroud and Alvaro Morata have not flourished in the striking department but the latter has been in the worser run of form with no goals contributed in his previous 13 matches. This has surprisingly seen him axed for the upcoming international friendlies for Spain
Predicted Lineup: Caballero; Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Christensen; Moses, Kante, Drinkwater, Alonso; Willian, Hazard, Morata
