Community Shield: Predicted Chelsea lineup (4-3-3) to face Manchester City

Chelsea face-off against Manchester City in Sunday’s Community Shield at the Wembley Stadium. The Blues have gone through an average pre-season with just a solitary victory against Perth Glory but manager Maurizio Sarri will be keen to put things right with a strong showing versus the reigning English champions.

Formation: 4-3-3

Predicted Lineup:

Willy Caballero featured from the start during the final pre-season friendly versus Arsenal and the veteran is likely to retain his position between the sticks ahead of the untested Marcin Bulka.

Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso are very much certainties to feature on the right and left side of the backline and we are fancying Antonio Rudiger and David Luiz to get the nod for the central defensive duties.

In midfield, summer signing Jorginho is likely to take up the holding role in the absence of N’Golo Kante and ahead of him, Cesc Fabregas and Ross Barkley should get the nod after being paired up regularly during pre-season.

Further forward, Callum Hudson-Odoi has been one of the finds during the club’s pre-season campaign and he should command a position on the left wing after proving a menace for Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin in the recent friendly.

Aside from him, Pedro should slot into the right side of the attack ahead of Willian, who has only recently returned to training whilst compatriot Alvaro Morata appears certain to start upfront with no other senior strikers available at present.

Predicted Lineup (4-3-3): Willy Caballero, Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, David Luiz, Marcos Alonso, Jorginho, Cesc Fabregas, Ross Barkley, Pedro, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Alvaro Morata
