Manchester United entertain Liverpool in this weekend’s Premier League showdown at Old Trafford. The Reds come into the game on the back of a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Crystal Palace which preserved their two-point advantage over Jurgen Klopp’s side for the second position. On the other hand, their opponents have been one of the most exciting teams to watch in terms of their attacking play and their most recent league fixture resulted in a comfortable 2-1 victory over Newcastle United.
Players to watch for:
Romelu Lukaku – Manchester United: The Belgium international has developed his link-up play as the season has progressed and this has made him one of the most valuable players under Jose Mourinho. Lukaku’s main weakness has been highlighted with his ability to contribute against the top-six but he has made some efforts to shed the tag after contributing a goal and an assist in the 2-1 triumph over ex-club Chelsea. Despite this, Lukaku was found guilty of missing a glorious opportunity in the goalless draw at Anfield this season and he has the opportunity to make amends this weekend.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – Liverpool: Whilst the focus has often been on Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been one of the unsung heroes in the Reds campaign. Under Klopp, the former Arsenal man has become a reliable performer at the heart of the midfield and his ability to thread in key passes has made him a player to watch for. Oxlade-Chamberlain has registered an assist in each of his previous two league appearances and United may need to keep a keen eye on his movement in addition to the Reds’ attacking trident of Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, who have flourished in the frontline.
