Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly weighing up the possibility of signing Paul Pogba from Manchester United during this summer’s transfer window.
The France international had initially been on Los Blancos’ radar during the summer of 2016, but the 24-year-old chose to join United from Juventus instead after the club acted faster to finalise the move.
Since then, the midfielder has enjoyed a mixed bag in terms of performances under Jose Mourinho and he has recently found himself on the substitutes’ bench owing to injuries and a drop in form.
According to Don Balon, Perez is ‘obsessed’ with the opportunity to sign Pogba during the summer after failing to lure him from clutches of the Bianconeri 18 months ago.
The European champions are supposedly planning a major overhaul of their midfield during the off-season and much of this has been related to their average league form which sees them 15 points behind league leaders Barcelona.
As per Don Balon, Luka Modric could be one of the experienced midfielders, who could be shown the exit door during the summer and his departure may be accompanied Dani Ceballos and Mateo Kovacic, who have failed to become regulars under Zinedine Zidane.
Despite the speculation, it would surely come as a surprise if Pogba is to push for an exit from Old Trafford. The Frenchman has previously said that it was always his dream to return to make his comeback with the Red Devils.
Pogba missed the weekend league triumph over Liverpool with a gashed leg sustained in training but he is likely to make an appearance against Sevilla during the second leg of United’s Champions League round of 16 tie tonight. The first leg ended in a goalless stalemate at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
