North London giants Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are reportedly keeping tabs on the proceedings of Eric Bailly, who has fallen out-of-favour under Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho this season.
The Ivory Coast international started the campaign as one of the first-choice centre-backs alongside Victor Lindelof and he put in a good performance during the season opener against Leicester City.
However, within a week, Bailly had a nightmare game at Brighton & Hove Albion where his positional awareness was lacking in a 3-2 loss and he has since managed just two minutes from the substitutes’ bench.
According to The Mirror, the Ivory Coast international could push for a January exit from Old Trafford after being put largely at blame by Mourinho for the club’s poor showing in the South Coast last month.
It is added that both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur may seek to pounce on his uncertainty at the turn of the year with the defensive reinforcements remaining a necessity for either side in the long-run.
Spurs were largely criticised by their own supporters after failing to make a single signing during the summer transfer window and they are likely to act on this by going on a potential spending spree at the half-way stage of the season.
On the contrary, Arsenal reinforced the central defence during the summer with the signing of Sokratis Papastathopoulous but there remains a weakness in the same position with the club yet to seal a shutout under the tutelage of new boss Unai Emery.
