Turkish giants close to sealing deal for Arsenal goalkeeper

Turkish club Fenerbahce are reportedly close to pursuing the signature of David Ospina with club president Ali Koc having recently met with Arsenal representatives in London.

According to Turkish Football, Ospina is widely expected to leave the Emirates Stadium during the summer after the Gunners announced the signing of Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen.

It is added that Fenerbahce president was recently in the English capital to discuss the move with Gunners’ officials and the deal to take Ospina to Istanbul is likely to come to fruition.

Ospina has generally played back-up to Petr Cech during his time at the Emirates but his time appears to be nearing an end with Leno potentially making him the third-choice at the club.

There had recently been the talk of Cech making way to Napoli in order to allow Ospina to maintain his deputy role but Unai Emery clearly appears to value the experience of the former, who has recently been handed the number one jersey.

Ospina is presently with Colombia at the World Cup finals in Russia but Fenerbahce can still reach a preliminary agreement with the Gunners to secure his services following the global tournament.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are supposedly close to announcing their third and fourth signings of the summer transfer window with deals for Sokratis and Lucas Torreira already in the pipeline.

Sokratis is due to join the club from Borussia Dortmund shortly after the end of the month but Torreira’s deal could be delayed for a little bit with the Uruguayan still plying his trade for his nation in Russia.
