The new Premier League season may have just completed its fourth week but there have been plenty of newcomers, who have already laid their mark on the proceedings. Among those, we look into two players, who have impressed the most since making the switch to the English top-flight.
Mateo Guendouzi – Arsenal: Arsenal may have not had the best of beginnings to the new campaign but there have certainly been plenty of positives regarding the performance of Matep Guendouzi. The young Frenchman was literally an unknown after he was picked from Ligue 2 side Lorient but he has since started each of the Gunners’ four Premier League games. Unquestionably, Guendouzi impressed with his determination and workrate during the opening two fixtures against Manchester City and Chelsea but he appears to have tailed off a bit thereafter with his tendency to move out of position often being questioned by the pundits. Despite this, he appears a great prospect for the future and Gunners head of recruitment Sven Mislintat may have found yet another gem from the transfer market.
Jorginho – Chelsea: Unlike Guendouzi, Jorginho has been in the European scene for nearly a decade and he has begun his career with the Blues in a strong fashion. The Italy international did have a debut to forget against Manchester City in the Community Shield where he was dominated by a young Phil Foden, but he has since provided a calming influence in the centre of the park where he has been asked to assume the holding role ahead of N’Golo Kante, who has been offered the license to roam forward under Sarri. Aside from this, Jorginho has on a number of occasions tried the long loopy pass to launch the counter-attack and it surely won’t be long before he acquires a Premier League assist to his name. Jorginho scored his maiden Blues goal via the penalty spot versus Huddersfield Town last month.
