Wales international Aaron Ramsey has highlighted that he is committed to Arsenal for the entirety of the 2018/19 season despite his contract expiring in less than nine months’ time.
Ramsey has been an influential performer for the Gunners over the past decade and he has started the current season in a bright manner with one goal and three assists in all competitions.
Despite this, there has not been a breakthrough in terms of a new contract with the north London club and in a report covered by Sky Sports News, the midfielder has indicated that he has no plans of pursuing a mid-season exit.
The 27-year-old added that he would like to do ‘something special’ with the Gunners during the remainder of his contract after failing to seal an extension which was initially deemed to have been agreed between both parties.
Ramsey is presently on a £110,000-a-week package with the Capital outfit and reports have previously indicated that the midfielder is seeking at least double of the salary based on the performances over the past year.
However, the Gunners’ hierarchy appears unlikely to bow to his demands in the near future, although their stance may yet change, should the Welshman remain consistent in terms of his showing while avoiding the treatment room.
Unlike in previous seasons, Ramsey’s fitness has witnessed a boost this term with Emery encouraging double training sessions and hopefully, that brings about an end to his muscular problems which have often hampered him when peaking in form.
Ramsey is presently on international duty with Wales and he most recently featured for them during the thumping 4-1 friendly defeat to Spain. They are now scheduled to face the Republic of Ireland on the road in their third Nations League game.
